What-is-ProHydrolase-Good-For

Why Prohydrolase is Important For Your Body

Prohydrolase is a proteolytic enzyme found in the small intestine, stomach and blood. Its known as an endoprotease because it cuts at the interior of proteins instead of the terminal end which carboxypeptidase and aminopeptidase attack.

Six Star whey isolate contains this protein enhancing patented enzyme blend and is designed to build muscle, accelerate recovery and boost digestion. This is backed by clinical research.

It Breaks Down Large Proteins

Proteins are broken down into smaller peptide chains and amino acids by proteolytic enzymes (including pepsin, trypsin and chymotrypsin) and carboxypeptidases (including aminopeptidase and dipeptidase). The peptide chains are then further broken down into amino acids in the small intestine. If your digestive system does not produce enough proteolytic enzymes, the proteins you consume will not break down properly and you may experience malnutrition and symptoms such as stomach discomfort after consuming protein.

This is why we have included a full dose of Prohydrolase in our Clean Green Protein. We have used a high quality raw, organic pea protein and added 400mg of this clinically proven proteolytic enzyme blend to maximize the assimilation of the protein into your blood stream and make it as bio-available as possible. Prohydrolase is manufactured by Deerland Enzymes and contains a mix of well-studied and safe ingredients such as Bacillus subtilis, Papain (Papain I), Bromelain (Ananas comosus/pinene) and a non-nutritive, digestion resistant maltodextrin control.

It Increases Amino Acid Levels

Deerland Probiotics and Enzymes recently published a clinical study showing that the protease enzyme blend ProHydrolase can be added to protein supplements to improve amino acid uptake after resistance training. When ProHydrolase was combined with whey protein, total amino acids increased by 55mg in the blood within 270 minutes compared to a whey isolate alone.

This research reinforces in vitro studies that demonstrate that ProHydrolase breaks down protein more completely, increases amino acid levels, decreases C-reactive protein and decreases large peptides associated with stomach discomfort. ProHydrolase is an ideal partner for protein powders.

A recent double-blind study showed that adding a specific protease enzyme blend to whey protein improved aminoacidemia and intramuscular anabolic signaling after resistance training in trained males. The study involved ten resistance-trained males who completed four sets of 8-10 repetitions of leg press and leg extension exercises at 75% of their one-repetition maximum. The subjects then consumed 250mg of Prohydrolase + 26 g of whey protein or a non-nutritive control beverage.

It Reduces Stomach Discomfort

Abdominal pain can be caused by a variety of issues including, gas, bloating, constipation and diarrhea. It can also be a sign of an infection. If you experience abdominal pain, it is important to drink plenty of water and seek medical attention if needed.

The enzyme blend in Prohydrolase breaks protein down into its smallest components, helping the body absorb more of it and reduce stomach discomfort. This is especially beneficial for people with conditions that inhibit their body’s natural enzyme production, such as autoimmune diseases or cystic fibrosis.

The enzyme blend in Prohydrolase also helps to increase the availability of the amino acid leucine, which is known to build muscle mass, accelerate recovery and improve immunity. This has been shown in two separate clinical studies. One study found that consuming a protein supplement with Prohydrolase increased BCAA levels while decreasing C-reactive protein. The other study found that using Prohydrolase improved digestion and decreased stomach discomfort.

It Increases Muscle Mass

A proprietary blend of proteolytic enzymes, manufactured by Deerland Enzymes, ProHydrolase helps maximize the benefits of protein supplements. It digests proteins into a bio-usable form and has been clinically proven to increase amino acid levels in the blood, including the critical amino acid leucine. It is effective with whey, casein, soy, egg and hemp proteins.

In a study involving resistance-trained males, adding ProHydrolase to a whey protein supplement resulted in higher plasma leucine concentrations 30 minutes after consumption, compared to consuming the protein alone. This is a significant effect that can lead to muscle growth, strength gains and improved recovery.

Conclusion:
